I am sorry to report the death of Fremd High school Athletic Director Rick Gablenz. Rick was killed last night in a car accident.
Fremd High school and District 211 will miss Rick greatly. He was honest, friendly and unselfish, with high standards and a love for young people. His understanding of people and cheerful disposition were characteristics that everyone recognized. In his 21 years of employment with District 211, he made many significant contributions. Rick's contributions as well as his good natured, helpful manner will always be remembered. His death will be sorely felt by his wife, Jennifer; his children, Derek, age 20, and Heather, age 17; as well as by those of us in his District 211 family.
