Margaret I. "Marge" Ekeberg of Arlington Heights Margaret I. "Marge" Ekeberg, formerly of Rolling Meadows and Palatine, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Home the morning of Thursday, March 29, 2012. Margaret was born to Florence (nee Langley) and Laverne Dougherty in Three Rivers, Mich., May 8, 1921. Margaret was married to George Ekeberg for 47 years until his death in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Mary Townes; and brother, Stuart Dougherty. Marge retired from High School District 211 in 1979 and moved on to work full time as a grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Ann Johnson of Medford, Ore.; and sons, Jim (Kathy) of Palatine, John (Lynn) of La Mesa, Calif. and Steve (Jackie Collesi) of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Marge had 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She took great pleasure in caring for her grandchildren when they were young and she enjoyed learning about their lives as they grew into adulthood. Margaret demonstrated an unconditional love for her entire family. She will be truly missed by both friends and family. A memorial service is planned for later in April.
